While much of Australia has been coping with devastating flooding rains, we’ve been tightening up on our use of water and closely watching nearby fires. Rainfall for the past few months has been very minimal indeed. The figs on our previously-chewed-by-rams-into-oblivion young fig tree are actually growing well, probably due to the thick hay mulch we had put down on the orchard prior to the extended heat wave.
