A friend with an orchard gave us a couple of boxes of Moorpark apricots – according to this recommended site they are mentioned in Jane Austen’s novel Mansfield Park as being superior to other apricot varieties in flavour, however I can’t say I noticed that when I read the book. But I would agree that they taste good 🙂 and I appreciate being able to eat, stew and cook with these apricots without spending hours of my Christmas Eve picking them as our friends did. 😀
I was inspired by another friend’s recent cherry pie (which I was prevented by distance from tasting) and made an apricot shortcake.
